“Clean Faculty” at the Faculty of Physics and Technology: Students’ Contribution to SDG 4
An environmental campaign titled “Clean Faculty” was held at the Faculty of Physics and Technology within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals. The event was organized with the participation of third-year students of the educational program 6B05304 – “Physics” and was dedicated to the implementation of SDG 4 – “Quality Education,” which focuses on developing modern knowledge, social responsibility, and environmental awareness among young people.
The organizer and curator of the group was Professor Farida Beksultanovna Belisarova, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering students’ active civic engagement and responsible attitude toward the environment. According to her, the university environment should not only provide fundamental knowledge but also cultivate responsibility for the future of society and the planet.
The main goal of the event was to increase students’ awareness of sustainable development principles, promote ecological thinking, and develop practical skills aimed at protecting the environment. During the campaign, participants became familiar with the key directions of the Sustainable Development Goals, with special attention given to SDG 4 – “Quality Education.” Students discussed the role of education in shaping environmental culture, as well as the importance of scientific knowledge and innovation in addressing global environmental challenges.
In addition, the participants also discussed other important areas of sustainable development, including affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, and climate action. The discussion was held in the format of an open dialogue, where students shared their opinions, ideas, and suggestions for improving the environmental situation both at the university and in the city.
The practical part of the campaign included a clean-up activity on the faculty territory. Students actively participated in improving the cleanliness of the area, emphasizing that a clean and well-maintained educational environment is an important part of a comfortable and productive learning process. During the activity, participants also discussed environmental responsibility, proper waste sorting, and the efficient use of natural resources.
Special attention was given to the development of sustainable habits in everyday life. Students concluded that even small actions, such as maintaining cleanliness, reducing unnecessary consumption, and treating nature with care, can make a significant contribution to environmental protection.
According to the results of the event, participants noted that such initiatives help increase youth social engagement, strengthen a sense of responsibility, and develop environmental awareness among future specialists. Events of this kind allow students not only to expand their knowledge about sustainable development principles but also to apply them in practice.
The “Clean Faculty” campaign became another important step in supporting sustainable development ideas and promoting the values of quality education among university students.
