Lecture on “Preparation for Hiking” for Students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences by Shymbulak Outdoor
On February 27, 2026, at 16:00, a lecture for university students on the topic “Preparation for a Hike” was held in classroom B4-5A.
The event was organized within the framework of social and educational initiatives by Chimbulak Development and the Shymbulak Outdoor department. These initiatives aim to promote a culture of safe recreation in mountainous areas and to enhance personal responsibility among visitors.

During the lecture, Shymbulak Outdoor specialists provided comprehensive information on the key aspects of hiking preparation. The topics covered included route planning, weather condition analysis, selection of essential personal and group equipment, as well as the fundamentals of first aid. Particular attention was given to action algorithms in emergency situations.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of personal responsibility, discipline, and appropriate behavior in the natural environment. The speakers stressed that safety in the mountains depends not only on the work of rescue services but also on the preparedness level of each individual.

The relevance of the meeting is supported by statistical data: according to rescue service reports, 302 search-and-rescue operations were conducted during the first nine months of 2025, resulting in 482 people rescued, including 88 minors. These figures clearly demonstrate the necessity of systematic preventive efforts and raising awareness among young people.

The lecture contributed to expanding students’ knowledge in the field of safe tourism and fostering a responsible attitude toward recreation in mountainous areas.
The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 15 – Life on Land.
