Within the “Sunkar-sen” Project: Introduction of First-Year Students and Bureau Chairman’s Report Meeting Held

20 february, 2026

At Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Faculty of Philology, with the support of the “Sunkar” Student and Master’s Trade Union, successfully hosted a ceremonial event as part of the “Sunkar-sen” project. The program included the bureau report delivered by Chairman Arsen Tazhibekov and an introductory session for first-year students, providing them with an opportunity to become acquainted with the faculty environment and community.

The primary objective of the event was to develop students’ creative potential, support their adaptation to a new academic environment, strengthen cohesion and engagement within the faculty, and present the bureau’s report on completed activities. The evening was organized in a unique “airplane” theatrical format, creating an immersive atmosphere and giving participants and guests the sense of “traveling” to different countries. Each performance featured its own artistic concept and content, making the event memorable and emotionally engaging.

First-year students showcased their talents through singing, dancing, theatrical scenes, and various stage performances. This format allowed students to demonstrate creativity, initiative, teamwork, and stage presence while gaining valuable public performance experience. The event also helped develop communication, collaboration, and leadership skills among students.

Throughout the evening, friendly interactions among faculty students were strengthened, and organizational, leadership, and responsibility skills were further developed. The event also motivated young people to take a more active role in university life and encouraged their creative initiatives.

The “Sunkar-sen” project proved highly effective in achieving its objectives, contributing to students’ personal development, enhancing the cultural and spiritual environment of the faculty, and increasing collective cohesion. The university continues to support such initiatives that foster intellectual, creative, and social growth among students.

This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including:

– SDG 4 – Quality Education: developing students’ practical skills and creative abilities;

– SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: cultivating leadership and organizational skills among youth;

– SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions: strengthening cohesion, responsibility, and collaboration within the academic community.

Overall, the “Sunkar-sen” project made a significant contribution to enhancing students’ academic, creative, and social potential, fostering a friendly and creative faculty environment, and facilitating the effective integration of first-year students into university life.
