Partnership and Professional Development within the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals
On February 20, 2026, an extracurricular educational event titled “Partnership and Professional Development within the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals” was held at the resource center “Mother’s Home” in Almaty. The event was organized by master’s students of the M02312 program – Foreign Philology (Western Languages) from the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, together with senior lecturers A.Zh. Bayeli and G.Sh. Akimbekova, within the framework of SDG 17 – “Partnerships for the Goals.”

The resource centers “Mother’s Home” aim to reduce the number of children placed in orphanages and boarding institutions. The center provides support to women who have found themselves in difficult life situations with newborn babies, as well as to families at risk of abandoning their children. The main goal of the center is to prevent mothers from abandoning their babies and to keep children within their biological families.

Currently, the foundation operates 21 Mother’s Homes in 18 cities of Kazakhstan. Over the 13 years of its activity, 7,395 women have received timely targeted social assistance from the foundation, allowing their children to remain in their families instead of entering orphanages. In addition, 1,071 children have been returned from boarding institutions to their biological families.

The main objective of the event was to strengthen the professional orientation of the center’s residents, provide information about current labor market requirements, and explain the importance of partnership, social support, and interaction with society within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, the event aimed to increase young mothers’ sense of responsibility regarding their future profession, guide them toward professional development, and introduce them to social initiatives within society.
During the event, young mothers were provided with comprehensive information about the importance of choosing a profession and the demands of the modern labor market. It was emphasized that employers today value not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, communication abilities, foreign language proficiency, and digital literacy. In this regard, it was explained that graduates of the Foreign Philology program have opportunities to work in various fields such as translation, education, international companies, tourism, and intercultural communication.
Participants were also introduced to modern methods of job searching. Young mothers were shown how to effectively use online platforms when seeking employment. In particular, discussions included the use of professional networks and job placement websites, proper profile creation, building professional connections, and maintaining effective communication with employers. Information was also provided about the activities of HR agencies, the support they offer job seekers, and their role in the employment process.
Special attention during the event was given to the importance of preparing a resume (CV). The young mothers were introduced to the structure of a well-prepared resume and its main sections, including personal information, education, work experience, professional skills, and additional information. It was also emphasized that a resume should present information clearly, concisely, and meaningfully in order to attract the employer’s attention. Practical examples of effective and ineffective resumes were demonstrated, and participants’ questions were answered.
During the event, particular attention was given to the 17th Sustainable Development Goal — Partnership. It was emphasized that cooperation between public organizations, educational institutions, and social centers makes a significant contribution to the sustainable development of society. The role of social institutions such as Mother’s Home was highlighted, particularly their importance in providing social support and addressing social challenges through collaborative efforts between various organizations.
