To honor national values and strengthen continuity in art, our university hosted a solemn roundtable entitled "National Art is a Sacred Heritage." The guest of honor for the evening was Saule Syzdykovna Bapanova, Professor at the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, laureate of the "Platinum Tarlan" award, Honored Worker of Culture of Kazakhstan, and laureate of the Abai State Prize.
During the meeting, Saule Syzdykovna profoundly reflected on her creative path and the role of traditional Kazakh crafts—specifically, the arts of felt-making and weaving—in modern fine arts. As a State Prize laureate, she shared the intricacies of elevating national motifs into world-class high art.
"National art is not merely a relic of the past; it is our present existence and our future. In the softness and scent of felt, in every weave of the thread, lies the sacred legacy of our ancestors," the professor stated.
The roundtable was held in an open discussion format, fostering a meaningful conversation around the following topics: Tradition and innovation: How to harmonize nomadic culture with modern design. Preserving the national code: Ways to prevent the loss of craft uniqueness in the era of globalization. The School of Mastery: Requirements and professional advice for the younger generation of artists and students.
Master's and doctoral students, as well as fine arts and design students attending the meeting, asked their most pressing questions and received highly valuable insights from the professional. Saule Syzdykovna's refined aesthetic sense and her pedagogical wisdom provided great inspiration to the young talents.
The university administration and faculty expressed their deepest gratitude to Saule Bapanova, noting that such meetings are of immense importance for future culturologists, art historians, and artists.
At the conclusion of the event, participants viewed a small exhibition of the professor's works and took commemorative photographs. This gathering served as a vivid reflection of the cultural and educational initiatives carried out at our university.
