Teacher vs. AI: Alliance or Competition ?
On March 5, 2026, an event dedicated to one of the most pressing issues in modern education: the interaction between teachers and artificial intelligence was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of implementing SDG 4 – Quality Education. The event brought together lecturers and second-year students of the Russian Language and Literature program.

The purpose of the event was to reflect on the unique role of the language and literature teacher as a bearer of culture, the living word, and moral values in the context of the rapidly digitalizing educational environment.
The program of the meeting was rich and interactive. Students presented a number of meaningful materials:
Presentations were delivered analyzing the opportunities and potential risks of interaction between teachers and artificial intelligence.
A video clip demonstrated real-life situations of using digital technologies in educational practice.
A Fishbone diagram visually structured the arguments, causes, and contradictions related to the issue under discussion. This analytical tool helped participants better understand how AI expands educational horizons and contributes to strengthening the social fabric of communities.
During a role-playing activity, students acted as a Teacher, Artificial Intelligence, and an Expert while solving a situational case task, illustrating how different approaches can complement one another.
During the presentations, participants highlighted key advantages of using artificial intelligence in education: rapid access to information, opportunities for personalized learning, and support in preparing teaching materials. At the same time, potential risks were also discussed, including the formalization of knowledge acquisition, reduced learner autonomy, and the necessity of pedagogical supervision when using digital tools.
The discussion demonstrated that artificial intelligence cannot replace a teacher but can become a reliable ally, making lessons more engaging and effective. The teacher remains the heart of the educational process: it is the teacher who shapes value orientations, encourages deeper understanding, develops critical thinking, and guides the intellectual growth of students.
AI is a powerful tool that should be used not instead of one’s own intellectual potential, but as an additional resource. Today, mastery of modern digital technologies is no longer merely a skill but a key competency of a 21st-century educator—an essential condition for professional relevance and meaningful dialogue with the new generation.
At the end of the event, the organizers summarized the results and thanked the participants for their active engagement, creativity, and commitment to professional development.
