Held Round Table Dedicated to «Shanyrak Day» Held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies
On March 17, 2026, a round table dedicated to Shanyrak Day was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, organized by the Department of Middle East and South Asia. The main goal of the event was to promote national values, enhance the importance of the family institution, and strengthen cultural and spiritual continuity among students.
During the round table, participants discussed the symbolic meaning of the shanyrak in the traditional worldview of the Kazakh people, as well as its role as a symbol of family unity and stability. Issues related to preserving national identity and promoting family values in the context of globalization were also addressed.
During the event, the Head of the Department of Middle East and South Asia, Zhiiekbayeva A.B., delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of preserving national values and encouraging young people to respect cultural heritage.
The event aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations, particularly Goal 4 – “Quality Education,” contributing to the intellectual development of youth and the formation of their value system.
The event was attended by faculty members, senior lecturers, students, and master’s students, who actively shared their views. The meeting featured open discussions and meaningful exchanges of ideas.
At the end of the event, participants highlighted the importance of such educational meetings in youth development and expressed the need to continue organizing similar events in the future.
