New Trends in Contemporary Kazakh Literature: Aesthetics, Poetics, and Artistic Paradigm

25 january, 2026

On January 25, within the framework of SDG 16  under the supervision of B. Bayazitov, a lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory, and Gulzhan Bolatova, Doctor of Philological Sciences,  the first-year doctoral student in “Literary Studies” Arykbayev Bagashar conducted  a demo leson  on the topic: “New Trends in Contemporary Kazakh Literature.”

The main goal of the event was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of current literary processes, new works, and emerging trends, as well as to explain them and give examples.

At the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, Kazakh literature entered a new qualitative stage. This period is directly connected with Kazakhstan’s independence, the revival of national consciousness, and global cultural processes. Literature, as an artistic reflection of spiritual transformations in society, has formed new trends, styles, and artistic forms.

Students, in turn, noted that post-independence Kazakh literature is characterized by innovative searches, new artistic forms, and a new aesthetic perception. Literature not only reflects social changes but also demonstrates the transformation of human consciousness through new artistic methods.

The study of literature of this period makes it possible to identify the artistic evolution, new trends, and aesthetic features of contemporary Kazakh literature.

The class was conducted in an interactive format: methods such as Q&A, group analysis, discussion of textual excerpts, and comparison of authors’ concepts were applied.
