On March 3, 2026, an open educational session on the topic “Law and Order – the Foundation of Social Stability” was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was organized by first-year doctoral students of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers: Minkayeva A., Baimakhanova B., Otegenova B., Yelzhas N., Tursynova B., Nygan N., under the supervision of Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Litvinenko Yu. A.

As an invited member of the teaching staff, PhD, Associate Professor B.M. Kudaibergenova and Mukasheva A.B. took part in the event.

During the session, key issues related to the illegal circulation of narcotic and psychotropic substances were comprehensively discussed in accordance with the current legislation of Kazakhstan. Particular attention was paid to the types of offenses, their impact on individuals and society, and preventive measures. Students were informed about the types of liability предусмотренные Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Real-life examples were used to illustrate consequences such as fines, administrative arrest, suspension of driving licenses, and imprisonment.

The special guest of the event was psychologist-addictologist Pak Oksana Borisovna. In her presentation, she explained the mechanisms of addiction formation, its psychological and social causes, and the long-term effects of even a single use. She also addressed the concept of codependency and its impact on family members and close environment. Key risk factors among young people, such as social pressure, peer influence, digital environment risks, and stress, were highlighted, along with practical prevention strategies.

During the meeting, students actively participated, asked questions, and discussed various real-life situations. The open dialogue format allowed participants to freely express their opinions and gain a deeper understanding of both legal and psychological aspects.

The conducted event directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, it contributes to the implementation of SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” which aims at building the rule of law, reducing crime rates, and strengthening legality. In addition, the issues addressed regarding drug abuse prevention and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle correspond to SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-being.” Enhancing students’ legal awareness and fostering responsible behavior also aligns with SDG 4 “Quality Education,” as it contributes to the development of social and civic competencies.

Overall, the event contributed to improving students’ legal awareness, fostering respect for the law, and developing responsible behavior. It also promoted a culture of lawfulness among young people and emphasized the importance of maintaining order and stability in society.
