On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Republic of Germany
To the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Center for German Studies in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
On April 6, 2017 the International Round Table will be held on the topic of "Kazakhstan – Germany: 25 years of cooperation: foreign policy, diplomacy and prospects of bilateral relations" at the Faculty of International Relations in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The Federal Republic of Germany approved the independence of Kazakhstan on December 31, 1991. Germany is considered as one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 11, 1992. As a result, two mentioned countries rapidly established inter-state dialogue and cooperation on the international arena, the broad development of relations, the conclusion of a basic agreement on the foundations of relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Republic of Germany on September 22, 1992, as well as the formation of legal base for bilateral relations.
Diplomacy of both countries contributes to the development of cooperation at a high level and wide contacts between people. Funds and public organizations support the Germans in Kazakhstan, their national, linguistic and cultural identity.
The International Relations Faculty of the KazNU for many years has been working closely with the Embassy and the Consulate General of Germany in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and representatives of the Fund named after Fr. Ebert and the fund named after K. Adenauer, DAAD, Goethe Institute and other organizations. With the support of those funds German direction was developed in KazNU, and the Center for German studies and the Lektorat DAAD was founded.
The purpose of the event is to exchange views on the following issues of the Kazakh-German cooperation:
- History of formation, current state and prospects of bilateral relations (politics, economy, trade, security, culture, education)
- Multilateral cooperation of Kazakhstan and Germany
- Kazakhstan and German diplomacy and the role of well-known diplomats, politicians
- Prospects of development in the universities of the German-European destinations
- Universities of Kazakhstan and Germany in various educational and training programs, research projects, etc
Participants of the round table: Kazakhstan and German diplomats (Consulate General of Germany in Almaty), representatives of German funds and organizations, certified in Kazakhstan, KazNU professors, DKU, Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies and etc.
Students and professors of Faculty of International Relations in KazNU will also attend the event.
