«ZHUMABEK KENZHALIN - JOURNALIST. SCIENTIST. MENTOR. PUBLIC FIGURE»

A Round Table entitled «Zhumabek Kenzhalin - Journalist. Scientist. Mentor. Public Figure» dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Faculty of Journalism will be held at KazNU. The program will include the opening of educational and leisure zone for students «Our graduates are our pride» and the opening ceremony of the Zhumabek Kenzhali's educational and creative laboratory «Press and New Media». Colleagues and public figures, prominent journalists, media leaders, scientists, students, undergraduates and doctoral students who worked with Zhumabay Kenzhalin in different years will take part in the work.

Information:

Kenzhalin Zhumabek was born on December 30, 1954 on the collective farm named after Zhdanov in the Amangeldy district of the Kostanay region. In 1971, after graduating from Kaindy High School in the Arkalyksky District, he was a worker, an electric welder, and then a high school teacher.

From 1973 to 1975 he served in the Armed Forces. In 1981 he graduated from C.M. Kirov Kazakh State University. Participated in a number of world and all-Union youth and student forums. He became the best student of the university and became a Leninist scientist. As a student he became one of the leaders of youth. In 1978, he was elected as People's Deputy of the Almaty City Council. In 1981, he was the first journalist in the newspaper «Egemen Kazakhstan» (Socialist Kazakhstan), then executive secretary, editor-in-chief of «Zerde» magazine (Education and Labor) from 1986 to 1988. Editor-in-chief Since 1996, he had been the editor-in-chief of «Akikat» magazine, and from 1997 to 1999, he was editor-in-chief of the «Kazakh Literature» newspaper.

From June 1999 to August 2006, he was president, general director of «Kazakh Gazety» CJSC, from August to December 2006 - the national weekly «Ana Tili» weekly, and editor in Chief of the national social and political event «Akykat» from November 2006 to February 2009. From February 2009 to July 2017, he served as Director General of the Editorial Board of Kazakh Newspapers. In 2004 he presented his thesis for the title of candidate of political sciences on the theme «The role of the media in the formation of Kazakhstani patriotism».

Kenzhalin was elected a member of the State Terminological Commission under the Government of Kazakhstan and a deputy of the Almaty City Council of People's Deputies of the XVII convocation. He is the author of the following essays: «Shyndykty shyrak etip ustaniz » (1998), «Zhelkildep osken kuraktai» (2005), «Sayase menedzhment pen paspasozdin zhurtshilikpen bailanis kuraldary» (2010) He is the author of 2014 books under such titles as «Kalam Kanaty» (2014), «Elzhandilik muraty zhane baspasoz bedeli» (2016). Zhumabek Kenzhalin was a laureate of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of mass media (2006), laureate of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan (1983), full member of the Academy of Journalists of Kazakhstan (2001), honored artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2004), holder of the Order «Ermet» (2009), medal «20 years of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan» (2011). He was a member of the Writers Union of Kazakhstan. In 2018, in honor of Zhumabek Omarovich and the memory of his book, the book «Serke sozdin sardary» was published.
