International educational teleconference: Almaty - Moscow

After the quarantine announcement, educational institutions around the world switched to the distance learning. On the one hand, such a sudden transition was difficult for students and teachers, on the other hand, it created a good basis for international educational teleconferences between secondary school teachers and university lecturers. On November 6, 2020 the teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​of the Faculty of Philology and World Languages, Makhmetova D.M. and Gumarova Sh.B., the engineer of the laboratory of physics of stars and nebulae of Physico-Technical, Izmailova Ildana together with the teacher of astronomy and physics of 73 Moscow school, Trunov I.V. held a scientific and educational event on the topic: Fascinating world of stars on the ZOOM platform. The event took place within the framework of the project: Aynalandy Nurlandyr. The schoolchildren of the 8 B grade and the 1st year students of the Chemistry and Chemical Technology Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University  took part in the event.
The main speaker of the teleconference was Ildana Izmailova, the engineer of the laboratory of stars and nebulae. Izmailova Ildana began her presentation with the history of the foundation of the V.G. Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute and the reasons for choosing Almaty as a center for astrophysical research. She showed the audience the map of light pollution, the structure of the institute, the observatories in Almaty city and the telescopes used for astrophysical research by the institute researchers.
Having told about  V.G. Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute research work and the observatories in Almaty city Adata, Izmailova Ildana delivered an exciting mini-lecture on astrophysics on the topic: Minute of Physics to 8th grade schoolchildren . In her mini lecture, she told the schoolchildren about such methods as spectrometry and photometry.   She showed photographs of asteroids and space bodies and demonstrated the principles of telescope work and the process of carrying out astrophysical observations. This ended Ismailova Ildana' presentation. Then the floor was given to the students of Chemistry and Chemical Technology Faculty. They prepared the short presentation on  the topic: The Modern World of Chemistry. At the end of the event, speakers were asked questions. Trunov I.V. asked the speakers a question about the latest research of Kazakhstani astrophysicists and chemists. Grade 8 students thanked the speakers for their interesting presentations, saying that this teleconference is a good Internet resource in their astronomy and chemistry curriculum.
