Remembrance of Dzholdasbekov U.A., rector of my native university
Umirbek Arslanovich became the rector of our university in 1970, I entered the first year of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in 1971 and was assigned to the Department of Computational Mathematics from his hands.
Much has been said today about his scientific and political activities as a deputy of the Mazhilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan. His life, like the lives of people of his generation, was dedicated to serving the Fatherland, thinking about the younger generation, each in his place did his job conscientiously.
The Kazakhs have an expression "Tekti zherdin balasy". This fully applies to Umirbek Arslanovich. My dad Nazarbekov Tolepbek and Umirbek Arslanovich were contemporaries and studied in Moscow at the same time. My dad is at the Agricultural Academy. Timiryazev, and he is at Moscow State University. Lomonosov. People of that generation could be friends in any situation and carry this friendship throughout their lives.
If you look at that time through the eyes of a student, it was very interesting. In the summer we went to the virgin lands and to harvest fruits and vegetables. We felt the paternal care of the university and faculty leadership. In the spring, an amateur art competition was held between the faculties of the Kazakh State University and the universities of Almaty. Each faculty had a choir, dombra orchestra and KVN teams. During the "Student Spring" it was difficult to find a place in the assembly hall of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, they sat between the rows on the floor and stood in the open doors of the assembly hall. At the city review, our university exhibited a choir at the republican level. Special costumes were sewn and our rector admired his students and did not miss these shows. This very organized the students, felt responsibility for themselves and their own university.
Therefore, it was probably decided for the students to build their own town - Kazgograd. Construction teams from students of the native university took an active part in the construction of the town. Now it is the home of the current students. Where there are educational buildings, a gorgeous library, a sports complex and an amazing territory. The eye is pleased with the view of our snow-white mountains and the monument of our rector, as if watching us and rejoicing for us.
In scientific terms, close ties were established with the scientific centers of Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Kazan, Omsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk. At the institutes of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences and at the Moscow State University. Lomonosov, the leading scientists of our university completed their training and postgraduate studies. This was the continuity of generations. Scientific schools were created, specialists of one direction held seminars, where interesting, urgent problems were raised in disputes and found solutions.
From our graduation, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, in the specialty "Mathematics", about 10-15 people were sent to graduate school. At the time, we did't know what a tutor was. Enrolled after high school, not RFMS. There was a great desire to study and sat in the library of the university and "Pushkin" until the very closing. I was responsible for myself and for my comrades. After graduating from graduate school, we all worked the allotted time at our institutes and universities. I have been working at my university from the day I graduated in 1976 to the present. Our mentors, teachers told us: "You enter the university - the temple of science." And these words forced us to pull ourselves up both externally and internally, to correspond to the title of a student of Kaz GU.
Today, when they talked about Umirbek Arslanovich, I remembered my student life. It was an interesting, wonderful time. The friendship of these years remained with us for life, then we were all equal and were friends by interests.
During the rectorship of Dzholdasbekov U.A. almost all mathematicians, journalists, philologists, lawyers and specialists in other professions in our country were graduates of our university.
The authority of the university was at its best. I would like that now we all together make efforts to achieve heights and raise the authority of Kaz NU in all areas of the university.
Congratulations to the relatives and students of U.A. Dzholdasbekov with his 90th birthday! I wish them all good health and success in their work.
We are proud of such our teachers and try to be worthy of the memory of our fathers and grandfathers.
