THE MEMORIAL BOARD IS OPENED IN HONOR OF ACADEMICIAN K.BAYPAKOV
A solemn opening of a memorial plaque in honor of the outstanding scientist-archeologist, doctor of historical sciences, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Republic of Kazakhstan Karl Moldakhmetovich Baipakov took place in Almaty. The ceremony was attended by representatives of Al-Farabi KazNU, paying tribute to the memory of the outstanding scientist.
Karl Baipakov made a huge contribution to the development of historical science and archeology in Kazakhstan. Being a prominent specialist in the field of medieval archeology of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, he left behind himself deep research of such monuments as: Otrar, the Kuyryktobe settlement, the Kostobe necropolis, the Buddhist temple at the Koilyk settlement and many others.
Karl Modakhmetovich expanded and enriched the source base of the ancient history of Kazakhstan. He is the author and co-author of over 50 monographs, 6 textbooks on archeology of Kazakhstan for universities, 15 albums and over 500 scientific articles.
Prominent scientists and public figures of the country took part in the ceremony. At the event, the Executive Director of the Alumni Association of KazNU named after Al-Farabi Kulgazira Nuranovna Baltabaeva. Congratulating the participants of the event with a significant event, she noted the merits of the scientist, highly appreciating his contribution to the science of Kazakhstan:
“Karl Baipakov conquered all scientific peaks that only exist, thoroughly explored the third part of the territory of Kazakhstan, the most saturated with archaeological monuments. Without the name of this talented scientist and teacher of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, it is impossible to imagine the scientific elite of the republic. "
According to the speaker, there is a great need in society for the republishing of the scientific works of Karl Moldakhmetovich. In the difficult 90s they were published in small editions. In our opinion, bringing to a wide readership the creative heritage of an outstanding scientist in the Kazakh language is an urgent task, first of all, of the state itself - the Republic of Kazakhstan. The name of the leading figure of archaeological science Karl Baypakov is immortalized in the memory of the people for whom he, with his characteristic generosity, invariable benevolence and kindness, left a rich scientific heritage.
The memorial plaque was installed on the house 247A on Nazarbayev Avenue, where the scientist lived from 1992 to 2018.
