From February 5 to March 18, 2022, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, represented by the Department of the Far East, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, conducts free Japanese and Korean language courses for school graduates and colleges of the republic.
Tazabekova Gulmira, a senior lecturer at the Department of the Far East, was appointed as the coordinator of the Japanese language courses. From the very first day, as the announcement of the courses was published on social networks, we began to receive active calls from those wishing to learn Japanese from all over our country. Ultimately, more than 100 people from Almaty and other regions of Kazakhstan signed up for this course. People show great interest and we still receive calls and messages from those who want to take the course. What is most interesting, not only applicants from Kazakhstan, but also from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Great Britain, Brazil and other foreign countries became interested in the course and signed up. The purpose of this course is to provide career guidance support to students in the process of choosing the sphere of their future profession, familiarization with the activities of the department, with educational programs, the formation interest in learning oriental languages. Classes are held 2 times a week online. In the classroom, students learn about the culture of Japan and Korea, and at the same time study the initial level of the language. They also learn writing, as well as frequently used phrases and expressions.
At the end of the course, it is planned to award certificates of completion of Japanese and Korean language courses to diligent and active students.
As the course coordinator, I think it was a great idea on the part of the faculty to organize this training for applicants. In this regard, I would like to thank you for organizing and facilitating the online courses, the dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Yktiyar Paltore Moldatoreuly, the head of the Department of the Far East, Em Natalya Borisovna, as well as all teachers who are actively involved in the implementation of theseonline courses!
Experience shows that many young people in our country are still poorly aware of the various opportunities for studying Oriental languages in Kazakhstan, in particular, they do not have sufficient knowledge in the field of Japanese Studies and Korean Studies. I think that young people got a unique opportunity to study Japanese and Korean languages and culture completely free of charge while being in different parts of the republic.
Each lesson is recorded. Therefore, students who, for one reason or another, could not attend an online lesson can watch the recording later at any time convenient for them. I try to keep in touch with each participant of this course, answer their questions and apply an individual approach to each student. Thus, I try to arouse their further interest in learning the language and increase their motivation.
As is known, for successful mastering of any language, it is very important how a person first gets acquainted with this language, what emotions he experiences at that time, how the teacher presents the material for the first time and encourages him for his efforts. In this regard, I feel a great responsibility and make every effort to implement high-quality and useful Japanese language courses.
