On March 1, 2022, a seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhsta's accession to the United Nations was held in the scientific library of KazNU. The event was organized on the eve of the significant day by the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development with the support of the UN Information Center in Kazakhstan. The Faculty of Oriental Studies and the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Geography and Environment of the University also acted as co-organizers.
Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in the Republic of Kazakhstan Vlastimil Samek spoke to the students. During an interesting and productive conversation, issues on the history and main activities of this international organization, as well as the long-term cooperation of KazNU with UN structures under the sign of commitment to peace and sustainable development were covered. Also, the head of the UNESCO chair for Sustainable Development, T.A. Bazarbayeva, made a report on the topic: "Global initiatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the field of sustainable development", which aroused great interest among the audience.
