The Old Man and the Sea is a 1952 short story by American writer Ernest Hemingway, written in Bimini, Bahamas. Hemingway's last known work published during his lifetime. It tells the story of old Santiago, a Cuban fisherman. Also, it tells us about his struggle on the high seas with a giant marlin, which became the biggest prey of his life.

The main idea of ​​the work is to show a person in the fight with nature itself, its creatures and elements, also the fight of a person with his weaknesses.
