TSU is interested in the experience of KazNU in the field of double-degree education
Director of the Law Institute of Tomsk State University (TSU) Olga Andreeva (RF) visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the visit, the guest of honor met with the leadership of KazNU, got acquainted with the university campus, visited the Faculty of Law of the University and the Al-Farabi library.
The guest of honor was met by the advisor to the Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Yerkin Duysenov and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Lazzat Yerkinbayeva.
"Our university has a glorious history. Next year we plan to celebrate the 90th anniversary. The Faculty of Law plays an important role in the activities of the university," Lazzat Yerkimbayeva said. – KazNU has many plans for the development of scientific collaborations, contacts, and exchange of teachers. About 30 scientific projects are carried out through the faculty. They are devoted to the issues of criminal law, constitutional legislation, the history of legal relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. In general, we are always ready for fruitful cooperation." It was also stressed that it is important to promote global cooperation within the framework of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, especially with an emphasis on the areas of "Quality of education" and "Partnerships to achieve these goals".
Advisor to the Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Yerkin Ermanovich Duissenov noted a number of achievements of the country's leading university, which occupies second place in the CIS after Lomonosov Moscow State University and has a large contingent of students, a strong teaching staff.
"Our plans are quite ambitious. The construction of the second stage of the Treasury is planned. We are developing along the path of integration into the global educational space. We have very close relations with universities of the Russian Federation. Just this year, our rector visited the Rectors' Forum. There is a laboratory open jointly with MSU. Last year, a branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI was opened in KazNU.
I attended the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Legislation, where I made a scientific report. I believe that TSU and KazNU will establish close relations in the field of research work," Yerkin Ermanovich stressed.
During the meeting, Olga Andreeva, Director of the Law Institute of Tomsk State University, spoke about the activities of the university, which celebrated its 145th anniversary this year. The Law Institute is 125 years old. The University publishes three law journals, two of which are included in the Web of Science. The guest of honor noted that TSU maintains close ties with Kazakhstani universities.
Students from Kazakhstan traditionally study at TSU. A Botanical garden has been created at the university as a research base. Olga Andreevna became interested in the experience of KazNU in the field of double-degree education, which has not yet been implemented at TSU. She spoke in detail about the experiment of introducing an alternative to the Bologna system – a basic 5-year legal education.
The meeting ended with a discussion of the prospects for cooperation and the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects.
