KazNU hosted a conference dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan

"The Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the legal basis for the development of new Kazakhstan", dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.  

The event was organized by: the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Almaty City Court.

   The conference is an interdisciplinary dialog platform for free exchange of opinions and results of scientific research concerning modern political-legal, economic and cultural processes in the context of constitutional reforms.

   The conference was attended by representatives of public authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Parliament, Government, Constitutional Court, local executive bodies, international experts, leading scientists of Kazakhstan, representatives of civil society.  

   At the opening of the event with a welcoming speech to the participants addressed the Advisor to the Rector, Doctor of Law, Professor Erkin Duisenov. "The Constitution is a special law. It enshrines the basic ideas on which our country develops, as well as human rights and freedoms. Every person should honor and respect the basic law. At the referendum held last year, significant changes and additions were made to the basic law. All of them are aimed at the development of democracy," the adviser emphasized.

    Chairman of the Constitutional Court Elvira Azimova noted that the Basic Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan has enshrined the main human values. These are respect for human rights and freedoms, market economy, commitment to democratic traditions and principles of the rule of law and civil society.

   Speaking at the conference session, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, Professor Salahiden Sabikenov raised the issue of the need to develop and adopt a new Constitution as a legal guarantee of the formation of a fair and democratic state in modern Kazakhstan.

   Within the framework of the event there was a ceremony of awarding the teachers of the Faculty of Law with certificates of honor and gratitude.
