Issues of readiness for the new school year were discussed

In Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a regular meeting of the Academic Council, which discussed the readiness of the university for the new 2023-2024 academic year.

 

    At the beginning of the meeting Dean of the Faculty of History Dosbol Baigunakov presented the opening of the research center "History and Culture of Central Eurasia" on the basis of KazNU.  

    Member of the Board of Academic Affairs - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Lyazzat Erkinbaeva informed about the readiness of the university for the new 2023-2024 academic year. She emphasized one hundred percent readiness to organize the educational process of all faculties of the university. She noted that out of the total number of grants in the Republic of Kazakhstan - 68,034 - 4,090 people (6% of the total number) entered KazNU. The speaker also presented a comparative statistics of enrollment for grants on bachelor's degree in the context of faculties, in which the leading is: Faculty of Physics and Technology (844 grants), followed by the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management (732) and Mechanical and Mathematical (617). In the new academic year, the university faculty faces important tasks: updating of educational programs taking into account the prospective tasks of the country's development, introduction of complex digital learning technologies at all levels of education, cardinal increase of the teaching staff's human resources potential, etc.

    Member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Activities - Vice-Rector Zhamilya Aitzhanova in her speech emphasized the task of increasing the contribution of university science in the socio-economic development of the country. Thus, she noted the increase in the share of scientific projects and programs on grant and program-targeted funding from the total number of scientific projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan by 12%. There is a tendency of growth in the number of realized international scientific grants. The share of joint scientific and educational grants with foreign partners increased by 24% in the field of social and humanities (from 72 in 2021), and by 37% in the field of natural sciences (from 59 in 2021). The number of scientists and faculty members of Al-Farabi KazNU who participated in international conferences and seminars increased by 45%. The share of faculty members who have undergone internships in foreign centers and universities showed an increase of 41%.

    Tasks set for the 2023-2024 academic year: implementation of foresight research and monitoring of current scientific trends to increase the international recognition of the university, the effectiveness of research work, integration and implementation of the results of scientific activities of the university in the real sector of the economy, etc.

    Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev, emphasized: "The new academic year for KazNU is significant: the university will celebrate its 90th anniversary. In this regard, I expect from all the great output, results in all areas of activity and proposals for celebrating the anniversary of the university".
