KazNU holds webinars explaining the academic policy of the university
On September 7 and 8, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is holding webinars to explain the university's Academic Policy to employees and students.
Webinars are held as part of orientation week and are timed to coincide with International Literacy Day on September 8, which was established by UNESCO in 1966.
Academic Policy of Al-Farabi KazNU for 2023-2024 academic year was approved by the decision of the Academic Council of the University (Minutes № 11 from 27.06.2023). The document consists of 19 sections, which regulate the academic business process at the university from student enrollment to graduation and employment.
In the updated text of the document introduced section "Research University", as the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 25, 2022 № 516 non-profit joint stock company "Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi" was awarded the status of research university and approved the university development program for 2022-2026 years.
The section fixes the university's aspiration to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - globally accepted goals aimed at eliminating poverty and misery, fighting inequality and injustice, as well as protecting the planet and ensuring peace and prosperity for the entire population.
The University recognizes the importance for the present and future society of reassessing, rethinking and redefining education so that ultimately education encompasses as many principles, knowledge, skills, beliefs and values as possible related to achieving the SDGs and sustainability in all three spheres: environment, society and economy.
The section "Inclusive Education" is included, related to the need to develop inclusive education and education of learners according to the principles of inclusion, which stipulates that the educational environment of the university is designed as a safe place where there is always support and equal treatment of all learners and learners to each other regardless of gender, race or ethnicity, religious beliefs, socio-economic status, physical health of the learner and others.
The definition of the concept of "artificial intelligence" is given, the rules of using artificial intelligence by teachers and students during theoretical training and during the final control are explained.
