30.10.2023 Senior Lecturer of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, Doctor of Law A. A. Tasbulatova conducted a scientific seminar with 3rd year students of the Faculty of Law within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 5 "Gender Equality".
Gender equality is not only one of the basic human rights, but also a necessary basis for achieving peace, prosperity and sustainable development. Progress has been made in recent decades: more girls are going to school, fewer girls are forced into early marriage, more women are serving in parliament and in leadership positions, and laws are being reformed to ensure gender equality. Despite these achievements, many challenges remain: discriminatory laws and social norms remain pervasive. But girls can stay in school and help empower their female classmates to do the same, and fight for their right to access sexual and reproductive health services. Women can fight against unconscious biases and implicit associations, which, against anyone's will, can be an invisible obstacle to equal opportunities.
