Works and views of Western researchers on the history of Central Asia - first meeting
SDG 4. Quality education
On October 30, at 15.00, the first meeting of a group of readers within the framework of winter and summer schools was held in 405 classrooms of the Faculty of history, organized by the Department of world history and the Center for the study of the history and culture of Eurasia. These meetings are aimed at studying new approaches of Western science to the history of Central Asia. Due to the growing interest in this region after the collapse of the Soviet Union, a lot of research on the history of Central Asia was carried out. Unfortunately, due to limited access and the dominance of Soviet and domestic research in our education system, Kazakh historians have largely neglected western scientific research.
In order to eliminate this gap and determine the importance of Western research in the history of Central Asia, a stream of these measures has been organized. Winter and summer school meetings take place on the last Thursday of each month. For each session, we have selected special books and jointly highlight certain chapters or sections that attract attention. All materials will be sent to the regular participants of our training group by e-mail.
We have compiled a list of books that are considered important research works on Central Asia. The door is open to everyone who wants to come! We hope that the upcoming sessions will have attractive discussions and fruitful research.
