KazNU hosted a conference devoted to the problems of geography

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held an international scientific-practical conference "Geographical bases of sustainable development", dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management and the Department of Geography, Land Management and Cadastre.

Within the framework of the conference the 80th anniversary of Prof. Temirbekov Amangeldy Tazhievich Temirbekov and 75th anniversary of Nadirov Sheripzhan Marupovich were celebrated.

At the opening of the event member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Al-Farabi KazNU Lyazzat Erkinbaeva conveyed to the staff of the Faculty and Professors Amangeldy Tazhievich and Sheripzhan Marupovich congratulations of the Head of the University Zhanseit Tuimebaev.

The rector's congratulation noted the importance of the development of geographical science and praised the significant work of qualified scientists who contributed to the development of the field.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Institute of Geography and Water Security", Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Medeu Akhmetkal, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences named after L.N.Gumilev Zharas Berdenov, Head of the Department of Physical and Economic Geography named after L.N.Gumilev Nurgul Ramazanova, Director of the Institute of Geography and Water Security. Nurgul Ramazanova, Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Geography of KazNPU named after Abai Kulyash Kaymuldinova and a special delegation of Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami.

Dean of the faculty, candidate of geographical sciences, associate professor Aliya Aktymbaeva told about the achievements of the faculty of geography and nature management, and also noted the merits of the jubilarians, scientists - Amangeldy Temirbekov and Sheripzhan Nadirov in the field of geographical science.

Rector of A. Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University Seytbek Kuanyshbaev, Rector of I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu State University Kuat Baimyrzaev, Professor of Geography and Sustainable Development Department of Salem State University (USA) Stephen Young, Professor of Ural Federal University Anatoly Stepanov, Professor of International Relations Department of Osh State University Abdurashid Nizamiev joined online to express their congratulations via video link.

After the plenary session, the conference continued with breakout sessions devoted to topical issues of geography and sustainable development. Scientists exchanged opinions and shared their research experience.
