Rector of KazNU visited Berlin Technical University

Within the framework of the working trip Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev visited Berlin Technical University (BTU, Germany), where he met with the authorized president of BTU for international relations, Professor Frank Behrendt.

During the meeting the rector of KazNU acquainted German colleagues with the history and activities of the university, noted the great experience of scientific and educational interaction with universities, institutes and organizations of Germany. Between KazNU and leading universities signed 13 agreements on cooperation, including: Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Surfaces, Berlin University of Applied Sciences Boit, University of Siegen, University of Leipzig, Helmut Schmidt University, Bundeswehr University in Hamburg, Philipps University of Marburg, Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, Christian Albrecht University of Kiel and others. 

Various educational programs and scientific-innovative projects are successfully implemented between universities.  Also the rector of KazNU told about the implementation of educational program "Double Diploma" with the University of Wismar, about the joint participation of KazNU with German universities in projects Erasmus+, and DAAD. The program on academic mobility of students and teachers is also successfully implemented. Over the past two years, five undergraduate students under the Erasmus+ program, 22 master's students, 16 doctoral students and one teacher visited universities in Germany for training, participation in various conferences and research internships. "According to the program "Academic mobility MNVO RK" in 2023-2024 academic year, two students of KazNU are studying in Oldenburg University named after Carl von Ossietzky and Marburg University. This year, Professor Heinrich Alf from the University of Sustainable Development Eberswalde was invited to the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology to conduct research. 15 students of German universities participated in the summer school on the basis of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU. To date, two students from Germany are studying at Al-Farabi KazNU", - said Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

KazNU successfully carries out cooperation with the Technical University of Berlin. Thus, since 2021 the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics together with BTU annually conducts within the framework of Erasmus+ GeoCLIC program summer (offline) and winter (online) schools for undergraduates of specialties "Space Engineering and Technology", "Mechanics", "Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications" and others.

During the talks, the parties exchanged views and discussed issues of further cooperation. Rector Zhanseit Tuimebaev proposed to establish cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Al-Farabi KazNU and Berlin Technical University. In conclusion, the parties noted that the universities will seek common ground for further opening of a joint center, which will be subject-oriented and in the future will be considered the opening of a branch.
