KazNU expands scientific activities

Chairman of the Board-Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebaev held a meeting with scientists, where the results of work and further plan of development of scientific-innovative activity of the university were discussed.

The main report was presented by Mr. Zholdas Buribayev, Director of the Department of Scientific and Innovative Activities. It should be noted that today more than 100 scientists of research institutes are involved in the educational process. Over 200 doctoral and master's students are members of research groups of grant, program-targeted research projects. More than 400 master's and doctoral students of the University have undergone scientific internships in research institutes. For the last year 349 research projects with total funding of 9,798 million tenge are being carried out at the university. At 16 faculties work is carried out within the framework of 301 scientific projects on HF and PCF.

In 2022, three scientific journals of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, namely the series of the Bulletin "Chemical", "Physical" and "Mathematics, Mechanics and Informatics" added to the list of publications of the University, indexed in the Web of Science database. To date, three scientific journals of KazNU, namely "International Journal of Mathematics and Physics" and "Eurasion Chemico-Technological Journal", "Physical Sciences and Technology" is indexed by Scopus database.

The speaker also noted a number of measures to achieve the set objectives, which will contribute to the implementation of public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms, integration and implementation of the results of scientific and technological activities in the real sector of the economy.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Board - Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev emphasized the role and development of science and gave a number of instructions to the deans of faculties. He stressed that to achieve the goal requires the introduction of new technologies and research methods, deepened interaction between universities, scientific institutions and the business sector for commercialization of scientific developments, as well as the creation of incentives for young scientists and entrepreneurs.

During the meeting, scientists also discussed the development plan, touching upon the issues of financing, knowledge and technology exchange between the countries, as well as the creation of a favorable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. It was proposed to introduce a mechanism for the administration of scientific projects based on the "One Window" principle, which will save the applicant's time and reduce bureaucracy.   Also, in order to develop research activities, there was a proposal to introduce the position of assistant professor-researcher.
