KazNU is a leader in the international rating Asia University Rankings among Kazakhstani universities and is among the top 30 universities in Asia.
With the support of the Head of State, the university opened its branches in Istanbul and Bishkek.
Also, since 2022, a branch of the National University of Nuclear Research MEPhI has been operating.
This year, during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to China, an agreement was reached to open a branch of the Northwest Polytechnic University of China in KazNU.
Within the limits of the given agreement in November of the current year in KazNU the branch of the Northwest Polytechnic University was opened.
Another news, which pleased many people, is the start of II stage of construction of KazNU campus with 50-year history.
By order of the Head of the state Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, with the support of the Government of RK and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education the foundation of three hostels for 3 180 places, each of which is designed for 1 060 places was laid.
To date, scientists of KazNU have implemented and commercialized more than 100 innovative projects. In general at the moment 400 scientific projects for the total amount of 8,1 billion tenge are realized in the university.
Scientists of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management took part in the competition of program-targeted financing and won a megagrant in the amount of 3.8 billion tenge. The large-scale project is aimed at solving the most important problems of sustainable environmental, social and economic development of the West Kazakhstan region and rational use of water resources.
This year the Brain Institute was established at KazNU. For the first time in the country at this neuroscience center fundamental and applied brain research will be conducted.
This year, scientists of KazNU have brought to the market an effective eco-leather, as well as developed a new method of decomposition of toxic substances.
Young scientists of the university have prepared dietary bakery products.
KazNU has successfully implemented UNICEF educational program for the amount of more than 130 million tenge on indicators of quality education-(SDG - 4) and gender equality (SDG - 5), aimed at the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Currently, a center for engineering solutions in the field of industrial robotics and robotization is under construction at KazNU. The project is implemented jointly with the autonomous cluster fund "Park of Innovative Technologies" Tech Garden.
The Engineering Solutions Center can be considered as the first Industry 4.0 model factory in Central Asia.
It is funded on the basis of the grant program "Stimulating Productive Innovation" by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank.
In addition, KazNU will implement an intergovernmental project to provide a supercomputer. Now a tender is being held in China, the winning company will supply supercomputers. KazNU is preparing infrastructure for their installation.
