Sustainable Development and ESG: Global Challenges, National Priorities, Effective Solutions

Today, the International Winter School -2024 “Sustainable Development and ESG: Global Challenges, National Priorities, Effective Solutions” started its work, conducted by the Department of Economics of the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The International Winter School will be held from January 8 to January 19, 2024 in an online format. Lecturers at this school will be professors from the USA, Serbia, Thailand, China, Italy, Indonesia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the teaching staff of the Department of Economics of the Higher School of Economics and Economics of KazNU. Master's students from Northwest A&F University of China, as well as doctoral and master's students from Ukraine and scientists from universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan take part in this school.

This Winter School is not just an academic endeavor; it is a dynamic platform where experts, scholars, and enthusiasts converge to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and collectively seek effective solutions to the pressing challenges our world faces. As we navigate through the intricacies of sustainable development and ESG principles, our goal is not only to analyze the global landscape but also to identify actionable strategies that can be applied on a national scale.

Over the next two weeks, our distinguished speakers and facilitators will guide us through discussions and lecture sessions. We will delve into the complexities of sustainable practices, explore innovative solutions, and address the evolving role of ESG considerations in shaping our future.

The first speaker at the International Winter School – 2024 was Doctor of Economics, Professor Olexander Kalinin from Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadim Getman. Professor Kalinin O. is a distinguished scholar with a profound understanding of economic dynamics, and today, he will be sharing his expertise on the critical topic of "Economic Security of Digitalization of Investments."

The second speaker was a Professor, Doctor of Economic Sciences, “Honored Worker of Kazakhstan” - Mukhamediev Bulat Mintaevich (KazNU). He made a great contribution to the implementation of the 4th SDG (sustainable development goals) “Quality Education”. He constantly carries out active scientific work and is a well-known scientist in the field of research of economic processes. The topic of the speech is “The role of independence of central banks in the sustainable development of the economy.”

The holding of the International Winter School is an important event that will undoubtedly contribute to improving the process of scientific economic research and create incentives for further fruitful work.
