An important step on the path of globalization
Academic mobility is one of the strategic directions of development of Al-Farabi KazNU. The Department of Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies annually sends students to universities in Japan and Korea under the academic mobility program. In December 2023, 3rd year students of the Korean Studies Department returned from various prestigious universities in the Republic of Korea. As part of the program, students studied at such prestigious universities in Korea as Busan University of Foreign Studies, Sookmyung Women's University, Dongguk University, Kookmin University and Gangneung Wonju National University. Students in the program were excited about the opportunity to immerse themselves in Korean culture and explore new academic perspectives. Students not only attended lectures and seminars taught by top Korean university professors, but also participated in extensive educational activities, including field research and projects related to the local ecosystem and culture.
At universities, students immersed themselves in the world of languages and cultures. Classes were organized to study the Korean language, which allowed students to improve their skills in foreign speech. In addition, students exchanged experiences with foreign students, which contributed to expanding their global horizons.
This exchange experience allowed students to not only deepen their knowledge of their field, but also expand their worldview, experience different cultural backgrounds, and make new friends. Getting to know Korea and its educational system became an unforgettable adventure for students that they will remember for many years.
The students expressed their deep gratitude to the organizers of the program and all the teachers who supported them during their studies. They also admitted that during the program they became more independent, confident in their abilities and ready to overcome any difficulties.
We are confident that this experience in Korea will be an unforgettable experience for every student, leaving a deep imprint on their lives and helping them grow and develop as professionals and individuals. Studying under the academic mobility program in Korea has become an important step towards the globalization of education and the formation of tolerant and open international communities.
We congratulate all returning students from Korea on the successful completion of their exchange program and wish them continued success in their studies and future professional careers.
