Rector of KazNU takes part in the forum World digital education conference in Shanghai

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev took part in the forum World digital education conference in Shanghai.

The event was attended by Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng, dignitaries and representatives of international organizations, foreign countries, and ambassadors. A short film about digitalization of education in China was shown at the forum (Shanghai Expo Centre).

The conference featured presentations by the Chinese Minister of Education, heads of international organizations, university rectors, digital education experts and others.

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev in his report focused on the experience of KazNU in the field of digitalization, promotion of science and international cooperation.

"Today, KazNU continues to increase the level of professionalism and strengthen the position of competitiveness, given the current realities and global challenges through digital transformation of education, thereby contributing to the realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, the University emphasizes its activities on joint development of innovative solutions using artificial intelligence. It is necessary to actively collaborate both nationally and globally by strengthening partnerships with other universities, companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations to share knowledge, resources and experience, ensuring cross-fertilization and networking. Also, universities need to be socially responsible and implement sustainable development practices in their activities," - said in his speech the rector of KazNU.

He also noted that in the era of transformation the mission of the university becomes more complex and diverse, and only together universities can fulfill their role in shaping the future society and training a new generation of leaders ready for the challenges and changes of our time.

Today Al-Farabi KazNU closely cooperates with 57 higher educational institutions and organizations of the People's Republic of China. There are 975 Chinese students studying at KazNU. On the territory of the campus operates the Center for Earth Sensing. The project was launched jointly with the Research Institute of Aerospace Information of the Academies of Sciences of the PRC in 2018. In 2022, a branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University (Xi'an) was opened on the basis of KazNU.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held the first scientific and innovation exhibition in Urumqi, People's Republic of China. The event, organized at the invitation of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, brought together 196 rectors and heads of research centers of local universities, representatives of more than 600 Chinese universities, heads of 40 major manufacturing enterprises and diplomatic corps of the two countries, scientists and entrepreneurs.

During the international forum in Shanghai, the inauguration ceremony of the World Alliance for Digital Education, the launch of the international version of China's intelligent education platform was held, and the program of cooperation in the field of digital education between China and other countries was also presented.

Within the framework of the international event a number of meetings of the rector of KazNU with universities of the People's Republic of China, including East China Normal University (ECNU) are planned. The work of the forum will continue for two days, parallel sessions are planned.
