Dr. Gabor Shramko - famous foreign scientist

Within the framework of the programme of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on attracting foreign scientists to teaching activities, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology invited Ph.D. Gábor Sramkó, Head of the Evolutionary Genomics Research Group at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Debrecen (Debrecen, Hungary), to give lectures, seminars and workshops. Dr Gábor Sramkó is a well-known foreign scientist whose interests include botany, molecular phylogenetics, population genetics of endangered plant's species, plant biogeography, floristics, and plant ecology. He has been leading the Evolutionary Genomics Research Group at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Debrecen for more than six years, which conducts research not only with plant subjects but also with animal subjects. Dr Gábor Sramkó has broad scientific contacts with many scientists of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and with other world-class scientists. He has authored more than 82 articles in peer-reviewed foreign journals with high impact factor and has h-index-22 in Scopus and Web of Science database.

Dr Gábor Sramkó's classes were held at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, and in total he gave 19 lectures, conducted 14 master classes, advised master's and doctoral students on current issues of writing and publishing a scientific article in a high ranking journal. All his lectures caused keen interest among students interested in modern trends in such classical sciences as botany and zoology. During his lectures Dr Gabor Schramko was easygoing with the students and effortlessly involved the audience in the discussion of current problems of phylogenetics.
