Current trends in the development of research universities

On February 21, 2024, an expert strategic session on the topic “Modern trends in the development of research universities” was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. HSEB teachers also attended the strategic development session. Design of educational programs, digital transformation, training in innovative technologies, and adaptation to the quality of education were considered as modern trends in the development of education at a research university.

Within the framework of education, the need to integrate in-demand specialists into the system of professional associations was assessed. By the digital transformation strategy of the research university, ways to provide effective and accessible education to students have been identified. A resolution has been developed on the introduction of innovative teaching methods that promote the active participation of students in the educational process. Modern educational trends in the use of new technologies have been raised, defining the new role and functions of teachers, as well as stimulating pedagogical activity in research activities.

The influence of the digital transformation of the higher education system on the educational strategy of a research university, strategic development paths are determined, modern methods of using artificial intelligence in the management of higher education are considered, as well as the role of business-to-business cooperation. Scientific personnel have been identified within the framework of international ratings, which amounts to 9 and 17 SDGs and ensures implementation.

The country is mobilizing innovative context-specific distance learning solutions using high-tech and non-technological approaches to ensure quality education (4 SDGs) under the Sustainable Development Goal. Quality education lays the foundation for improving the socio-economic status of the population and plays a key role in achieving a way out of poverty (SDG 1). Thus, education helps reduce inequality and achieve equality, expands people's opportunities for healthy and sustainable lives (3 SDGs), and plays an important role in creating peaceful societies (16 SDGs).
