Round table “Shaping competencies for teaching English and French based on national values using modern technologies”

Diplomatic Translation Department of International Relations Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University cordially invites you to participate in the round table “Shaping competencies for teaching English and French based on national values using modern technologies”, organized within the framework of research project of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan AR14869709 “Features of teaching foreign languages based on national values” and dedicated to 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi KazNU, which will be held at 14:00 on February 27, 2024.

The issue of promoting national values in educational space is becoming increasingly relevant and acquiring considerable significance in the country. Younger generation faces a huge flow of information in the world of scientific and educational reforms and technology advancement. If we do not revive and promote national values of our country, we risk depriving young people of their national identity. It is necessary to cultivate and consolidate national values in their minds. This is the purpose of our round table. In the context of globalization, we must strengthen our national values and promote them at the international level. The main concepts defining the future of the nation include: national integrity, traditions and culture, education of national spirit in youth. Next generation will be able to preserve its sovereignty, language and traditions only when youngsters recognize and respect national values and acquire national qualities of historical consciousness. At the moment, the urgent problem is training of highly qualified, competitive, multilingual specialists who have absorbed national values.

The purpose of the round table is to create a platform for discussing the role of national values shaping competencies in foreign language teaching as well as to develop students’ cognitive activity towards conscious understanding of how important to preserve the national code of our people.

The round table participants will dwell upon the issues of linguistics, literary studies and translation studies, as well as history, cultural studies, and current methods of teaching foreign languages in the era of globalization and digital technologies in accordance with national values.

The round table will welcome leading representatives of scientific and expert community of Kazakhstan, CIS countries, and far abroad from Italy, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, etc.
