International Olympiad "Fizkhimik-2024" was held in KazNU

At the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of the 90th anniversary of the University the international Olympiad "Fizkhimik-2024" named after Prof. H.K.Ospanov was held.

Students of 3-4 courses of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Karaganda University named after academician E.A.Buketov, North-Kazakhstan University named after Manash Kozybaev, as well as Kyrgyz State University named after Ishenaly Arabaev (KSU, Bishkek) took part in the Olympiad. At the opening of the Olympiad with a farewell speech were made by the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Ph, Professor Aubakirov E.A., Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry Tusupbekova A.S. and one of the sponsors of the Olympiad - Master of Science Kazakbaev S.T., Director of "ALEMTRADE" LLP.
The participants of the Olympiad were students who successfully passed the qualifying round at their universities.  The Olympiad was held in an online format and consisted of two rounds. At the first stage the participants were tested on the sections of the course "Physical Chemistry": chemical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. The testing was conducted on the educational platform "Kahoot". At the second stage, the participants had to solve three tasks of varying complexity aimed at identifying cognitive, functional and systemic competencies in physical chemistry.

The works of the participants of the Olympiad were checked by the jury consisting of leading teachers of our university, as well as KarU named after E.A.Buketov and Kyrgyz State University named after I.Arabaev. According to the results of the jury work the winners were revealed, so the diploma of I degree was awarded to student Ergeshov Maksat (KazNU); diploma of II degree - Ilyas Sultan (KazNU), Mukanov Askar (KazNU), Fisher Tatiana (KarU); diploma of III degree - Victoria Polyakova (KarU), Bakhytzhanova Zhansaya (KarU), Bauyrzhanuly Aziz (KazNU). The following students were also recognized with incentive prizes for good results: Duyshenaly kyzy Aiperi (KSU, Bishkek), Nurmakhanbet Azat (KazNU), Zhanbyrbaeva Dariga (KarU, Karaganda), Kartasheva Erika (SCU, Petropavlovsk), Zhabina Alina (SCU).

The winners of the Olympiad also received cash certificates: for I place - 100 000 tenge, for II place - 75 000 tenge, for III place - 50 000 tenge; incentive prizes from 10 000 to 30 000 tenge.

Teachers, doctoral students and students of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry took an active part in organizing and conducting the Olympiad.
