Choosing a profession is important

6 march, 2024

At Al-Farabi KazNU, professional orientation work is carried out throughout the year, visiting schools. Within the framework of this work, the Faculty of Oriental Studies is working closely with schools located in different parts of Kazakhstan. In addition to the planned intra-faculty online, offline meeting, each department, each teacher works in this direction. Every year, as a result of such work, the number of students interested in oriental languages did not decrease, if not increase.

As the beginning of cooperation between such schools and the university, we organized a business trip to the ``Abadan`` school, located in Shymkent, in order to provide professional guidance.

Abadan school is one of the educational institutions in Shymkent, which implements the teaching system of Japanese schools in its educational systems. According to the school administration, a comprehensive study was conducted, as a result of which it was decided to introduce this Japanese teaching system into the school with the intention of being closer to our Kazakh identity. As in the example of Japanese schools, at the Abadan school, children sow plant species with their own hands, look at and customize it themselves. The school also keeps pets to teach children to be kind to the environment, take care of and protect nature. In addition, students who are interested in Japanese, Japan, are taught Japanese as an optional language. Teachers of the Japanese Studies Department of the school, who are interested in Japanese education and Japanese culture, held a meeting with students to get acquainted with Japan. The meeting began with an introduction to the Japanese Studies Department of the Far East Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. A presentation was made about Japan, the Japanese language, the possibility of studying at the Japanese university, and the meeting ended with a master class on putting on the national costume of Japan – kimono.

At this meeting, we are confident that the children will be interested in Japanese Studies, and in the future, studying Japanese will become a bridge between the two countries. So, if we increase the number of Japanese scientists in the field of Education, Science, business, diplomacy, then the work of our teachers is justified.
