Partnership with French universities

Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan Didier Caness.

At the meeting the rector noted the cooperation between the universities of France and Kazakhstan.
Today Al-Farabi KazNU cooperates with universities, institutes, scientific and cultural organizations of France.
One of them is the University of Lorraine. This educational institution implements a two-diploma educational program "Mechanics and Energy" at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU. Currently, more than 100 master's students and 20 doctoral students have been trained. At the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, joint educational programs "Oil and Gas Engineering" and "Abai-Vern" are being implemented jointly with the University of Lorraine, and jointly with the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne - a two-diploma program "Mathematics (URSA)".
Last year, following the results of the meeting in Paris in the framework of the VIII Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Kazakhstan and France, an agreement on exchange of students with the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne on the program "Erasmus+" was signed.

Currently, four students of the Faculty of International Relations are studying at the University of Reims under the program "Erasmus+".

Within the framework of academic mobility in 2023/24 academic year 36 students, 5 doctoral students, 12 teachers visited universities of France, took part in various conferences, advanced training courses, realized joint projects. 11 students from higher educational institutions of France are studying at the University, French scientists are attracted to give lectures and scientific supervision of PhD doctoral students. 2018-2023. Al-Farabi KazNU received 16 professors from higher education institutions of France.

"There are many opportunities to further increase cooperation with higher education institutions of France. Along with the implementation of joint projects of the University AUF, Francophone Agency, Erasmus+ and Horizon 2023-25, strengthening interaction with the French Institute for Central Asian Studies (IFEAC), we can create scientific centers for the study of topical issues on culture and language. We can also consider opening a branch of a leading French university in the country," said Janseit Kanseituly.

In his speech, Ambassador Didier Caness expressed support for the idea of opening a branch of the University of France in the treasury and other initiatives of the leadership of the university. During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of cooperation in the field of science and higher education.
