INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE “URBAN SUSTAINABILITY: CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS”
Dear colleagues!
We invite you to take part in the International Scientific Conference “Urban Sustainability: Challenges and Solutions", dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, within the framework of the AR 19677682 project "Integrated Geographical assessment of the sustainable development of large cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan", which will be held on April 17-20, 2024 in a hybrid format at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan. Applications and registration for participation in the conference are accepted by March 15, 2024.
The purpose of the conference is to share experiences and research results: theories and practices of sustainable urban development taking into account modern challenges; analysis of problematic issues of sustainable urban development and search for effective ways to solve them; rational, careful and safe use of natural resources, as well as the exchange of research experience in all these areas of work (sections) of the conference.
The conference is organized by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan).
Conference Partners: Department of Sustainable Urban Development, University of Oxford (UK), Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), (Moscow, Russia), KAZGIPROGRAD Design Institute 1, (Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan).
The conference program provides for the work of plenary, breakout and closing sessions. Work in sections in the following areas (topics):
- Socio-economic, theoretical and methodological aspects of sustainable development.
- Openness, safety, resilience and environmental sustainability of cities and settlements, problems of urban environment quality.
- Quality of life, social well-being and demographic processes as targets for sustainable urban development.
- Environmental management and environmental safety as factors of sustainable development.
- New educational technologies in the formation of human capital in the context of sustainable development of socio-ecological and economic systems.
- Natural and territorial complexes as the basis for the sustainability of natural and anthropogenic ecosystems in the context of climate change and worsening food security problems.
- Tourism and recreation: their role in ensuring sustainable development of territories.
- The use of GIS technologies in the study of urban sustainability and urbanization processes.
