“ABAI AND ORATORY” literary and informative evening at Abai Research Institute of Al-Farabi KazNU

A literary and informative evening on the topic:  “Abai and oratory” was held at  Abai Research Institute at KazNU with the participation of  the 4th year students of  “Russian Philology” major  who had pedagogical  practice. In modern education the emphasis is increasingly placed not only on the assimilation of theoretical knowledge, but also on the development of creative thinking and the ability to analyze works. On the example of the informative evening at Abai Research Institute, one can see how innovative methods helped students not only to deepen their knowledge, but also to apply it in practice.
Within the framework  of this practice,  the students were offered a variety of tasks that required a creative approach. The practice, which lasted for several weeks, was not only an opportunity for students to gain practical experience, but also a time for personal and professional growth. They prepared presentations, an event scenario and a quiz, and each was given an individual assignment that allowed them to  demonstrate  their talents and abilities. They used  a variety of approaches to analyzing the works and enriched their overall understanding of the topic. The pedagogical practice allowed developed their  planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Special attention was paid not only to the analysis of works, but also to the development of various methods of their interpretation.  The students compiled dictionaries of synonyms for the work in Russian and Kazakh, which allowed them to understand    the work  more deeply. They also developed questions for the work, which helped students to gain a profound  insight into the topic and stimulated their analytical thinking.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of  Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 4: “Quality Education”, the 4th year students of  “6B02307 – Russian Philology”  major of the Faculty of Philology with the support of  Abai Research Institute and the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature held an event on the topic:  “Abai and Oratory”. The target audience of the thematic lesson  were the  3rd year students of  “Russian Language and Literature” major.
During the the event the participants discussed  the concept of oratory as a science, mapped the main ways of development and presented the bases of  rhetoric. The audience got acquainted closer with such ancient Greek orators as Socrates, Aristotle and Plato. The main part of the presentation, of course, touched upon aspects of the life and work of the Kazakh orator,  Abai Kunanbayev. The students  demonstrated not only deep knowledge of the thinker's biography, but also  understood   the meaning of sayings and words of edification.
At the end of the meeting, the participants were offered to test their knowledge of oratory by taking part in a quiz. The quiz was conducted in the format of “Jeopardy” in 3 languages. The 3rd year students demonstrated excellent knowledge in the field of rhetoric. The winners were awarded  memorable prizes.
The closing speech of the practice supervisors represented by Professor Kassymova Rashida Tauekelovna, Associate Professor Mussaly Leyla Zhumatayevna and Associate Professor Natalya Kantaliyevna Sarsekeyeva emphasized the importance of industrial practice in the formation of professional competencies.
In conclusion,  the practice of the  4th year students of  Russian philology major at  Abai Research Institute  proved to be a successful combination of theory and practice, as well as an innovative approach to learning that promotes the development of creative thinking and analytical skills in students.
