OPEN DAY AT THE FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES
On April 11, 2024, an "Open Day" was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the aim of career guidance for high school students of secondary schools and gymnasiums of the Republic of Kazakhstan and college students.
The event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the university, the 35th anniversary of the faculty, was attended by teachers and students of the specialized lyceum No. 2 of Kargaly Zhambyl district of Almaty region, gymnasium No. 36 named after B. Atykhanuly, specialized lyceum No. 178 of Almaty, secondary school No.205 of Almaty, gymnasium school No.133 Almaty, gymnasium No. 140 named after M. Makataev Almaty, teachers and students of KAZUMO named after Abylaikhan, MAB College, as well as parents.
The honorary guests of the event were Mr. Mohsen Fagani, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty, and Mr. Hossein Aghazade, Director of the Cultural Representation of Iran in Almaty.
The event was opened by the dean of the faculty N.B. Em. The dean shared today's breath of the faculty, plans for the future. As part of the Open Day, the faculty staff informed the guests about the specialties, admission requirements and student life of the faculty.
A "Festival of Oriental Culture" was organized as part of the Open Day. Teachers and students of the faculty prepared a concert program in the Oriental language in order to familiarize the guests with the culture of the studied countries of the East. The ensemble "Sur-Saz", created under the guidance of the teacher of the Department of Indology Ismagulova Symbat, performed an Indian song accompanied by Kazakh national instruments, and the 3rd year students of the Department of Japanese Studies performed Abai's song "Kozimnin Karasy" in Japanese. Students of the Arabic Studies department performed the popular Arabic song "KunAnta". The teacher of the Department of Iranian Studies G.A.Kambarbekova performed with the national instrument of the Iranian people DAF, and the student of the department Turksoy Abilmazhin Begimai read poetry in Turkish and won the hearts. Chinese and Korean students delighted the guests with beautiful dances.
There was also a fashion show of national clothes. The national dress of each eastern country was demonstrated. The event continued with the presentation of national dishes and sweets of the peoples of the East. For the main guests of the event, a quiz was organized for students to determine how understandable the information presented during the event was, and gifts were presented to students who gave a specific answer.
At the end of the event, the guests were presented with letters of thanks and photos were taken. The event was informative and organized at a high level.
