A healthy nation is the foundation of a strong state. In his Address, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev did not overlook the pressing issues in the field of healthcare. In this regard, clinic doctors recently held a meeting with students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, during which they provided information on the topics “Tuberculosis Prevention”, “HIV/AIDS”, and “Smoking and Alcoholism”.
They explained the ways tuberculosis spreads and the methods of combating it. As we all know, this disease is transmitted from person to person through the air. When coughing, sneezing, or spitting, individuals with pulmonary tuberculosis release tuberculosis bacteria into the air. To become infected, it is sufficient for a person to inhale even a small amount of such bacteria. The tuberculosis pathogen can survive in the external environment for a long time; for example, when a patient coughs, together with sputum during coughing, sneezing, or talking, they release millions of mycobacteria into the air, spreading within a radius of 2–6 meters. They settle on floors and objects with dust and may remain viable for many years, as the doctors warned. They also emphasized the importance of adhering to tuberculosis prevention measures. Of course, the main principle is maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Walking in the fresh air, sun and water procedures, physical exercise, observing personal hygiene rules, eating nutritious and vitamin-rich food, getting sufficient and timely sleep — in other words, following proper hygienic habits — strengthen the human body and protect it from tuberculosis.
The doctors explained to the students in detail that the most effective way to achieve this goal is to establish a daily routine and to harden the body. They provided comprehensive answers to the students’ pressing questions. I believe that along with gaining education, holding such events is very beneficial. We are deeply grateful to the clinic staff.
