From May 4 to May 6, 2024, students and teachers of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism of Al-Farabi KazNU, together with the tourism and sports development club “ZhasTour” took part in the annual tourist festival “Tamgaly Tas” in the picturesque Tamgaly-Tas tract on the shore Ili River. Traditionally, in the spring the steppe comes to life, active, sports tourists wake up, climbers prepare ropes and pitons, the noise of the wheels of bicycle, car, and motorbike enthusiasts of active adventure tournaments in the Tamgaly Tas rock complex are heard. From May 3 to 8, the Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in tourist all-around tourism activity was held, in which students of the department also took part. These competitions are held with the aim of popularizing Outdoor activities aimed at expanding friendly and business ties between various districts and regions of Kazakhstan and other countries in order to increase the tourism potential of the Almaty region. All events are supported by public organizations that are part of the NGO “Kaz Alpine Club”, with the assistance of the Akimat and the tourism department of the Almaty region. Participation in this event was organized with the support of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, as part of achieving the goal of sustainable development - ensuring a healthy lifestyle among young generation. Participation in this event left only positive emotions among both students and teachers.
