Ties with Xi'an Jiaotong University are being strengthened

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held talks with the delegation headed by Vice President of Xi'an University Jiaotong Hung Jun, who arrived on a working visit to the institution of higher education.

 

At the meeting the parties discussed the issues of increasing partnership in science and education and activation of the academic mobility program.

Welcoming the Chinese delegation led by Hung Jun, the head of the university noted that today's visit will strengthen comprehensive cooperation between KazNU and Xi'an Jiaotong University.

"We are interested in further strengthening cooperation with Chinese universities. In this context, we have close relations with Xi'an Jiaotong University. In the future, it is necessary to intensify work on organizing international conferences, opening a joint research center and exchanging teachers and students. It is important that scientists of the two universities work together and realize their innovative projects," the rector said.

Xi'an Jiaotong University, founded in 1896, today has more than 3,000 teachers and 45,000 students. The university cooperates with more than 300 universities and research institutes. The university is one of the top 300 universities in the QS WUR world ranking.

In turn, Vice President of Xi'an University Jiaotong Hung Jun emphasized the importance of joint training of qualified personnel and implementation of research projects.

"Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is one of our reliable partners in Kazakhstan. Xi'an Jiaotong University also intends to further develop friendly cooperation. Therefore, we support all initiatives and projects aimed at increasing partnership," Hung Jun said.

The meeting agreed on the joint opening of the China-Middle Asia Rule of Law Research Center, the One Belt, One Road Laboratory for Low Carbon Conversion and Efficient Use of Chemical Resources in Shaanxi Province, and the China-Middle Asia Media Communications Research Center. There was also a book presentation by Sofia Ushurova, Director of the Center for Central Asian Law Studies.

During the talks, the prospects for further development of bilateral ties were defined. The parties agreed to continue working on bringing the partnership between the two universities to a new level.
