The “Hall of Arabic Language and Culture” was opened at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On May 17, 2024, at 10.00 a.m., the grand opening of the “Hall of Arabic Language and Culture” sponsored by Sultan Al-Qasimi, Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, took place at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Within the framework of a bilateral memorandum between the "Academy of the Arabic Language" of Sharjah, UAE and the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the rector of the Kazakh National University Al-Farabi Tuimebayev Zhanseit Kanseitovich, Secretary General of the Academy of the Arabic Language (Sharjah, United Arab Emirates) Mohammed Safi Al-Mustaganimi, Chairman of the International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (Dubai, UAE) Mohammed Kamil Al-Moghaini, Executive Director of this Academy Mohammed Abdu Rahman, members of the special delegation Ahmad al-Jarwan, Director of the Center for Arabic Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Yerkinbek Shokai, the teaching staff of the Department of Arabic Studies of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia and the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Nur Mubarak took part in the grand opening of the hall equipped with technical facilities, furniture and educational supplies of a modern type.

Tuimebayev Zhanseit Kanseitovich, rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which is celebrating his 90th anniversary this year, congratulated on behalf of the staff of the National University headed by him and on his own behalf on the grand opening of the "Hall of Arabic Language and Culture", and presented letters of thanks and gifts to the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, the UAE Sultan Al-Qasimi, Secretary General of the "Academy of the Arabic Language" Mohammed Safi Al-Mustaganimi and Chairman of the "International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy" Dubai UAE Mohammed Kamil Al-Moghaini, who sponsored the opening of the hall.

The Secretary General of the Academy, Mohammed Safi Al-Mustaganimi, in turn, thanked the rector of KazNU Tuimebayev Zhanseit Kanseitovich for his support in opening the "Hall of Arabic Language and Culture" at the university, and on behalf of the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah Sultan Al-Qasimi presented him with a letter of thanks and a number of valuable works.

In the future, on the basis of this hall, work will be carried out on the study of Arabic culture, history, lectures, translation, processing of works in Arabic and teaching Arabic in modern ways, and the written heritage of thinkers-scientists of Turkic origin who came from the ancient medieval steppes and wrote their works in Arabic will be explored from a new angle, and it will become a center for new scientific analyses.

As part of the opening of the hall, a scientific and intellectual competition was organized among students of the Department of Arabic Studies under the auspices of the leadership of the Academy of the Arabic Language and the International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. Students studying at the Arabic department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies participated in various intellectual quizzes in Arabic and shared their knowledge. In addition, they read stanzas from classical poems by medieval Arab poets, sang in Arabic and admired with their knowledge and art.

At the end of the competition, the Secretary General of the Academy of the Arabic Language, Mohammed Safi Al-Mustaganimi, presented monetary awards to the students of the Department of Arabic Studies on behalf of the Academy.

 The scientific seminar "Modern approaches to teaching Arabic to foreigners" was the end of the opening ceremony.
