Among those who received apartments are young scientists of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, namely Associate Professor Yerali Kurmanov and teacher Samet Bayzhuma.
Young scientists, rectors of universities, heads of research institutes and organizations took part in the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the press service of the President, in his speech the head of state emphasized that for the prosperity of Kazakhstan it is necessary to develop science and education.
“We live in the era of science and education. For the prosperity of our Motherland, we must pay special attention to the development of these spheres. There is no other way. We need to become one of the leading countries, not a slave. In a word, we should increase our scientific potential. In general, work in this direction is underway. At the meeting of the National Council on Science and Technology, I gave a number of specific instructions. The solution of all problems is under my direct control. Currently, the bill “On Science and Technology Policy” is being considered in Parliament. Yesterday, the Senate approved it in the first reading. This is a very important and long-awaited document. It is necessary to improve the system of science management. The issue of social support for scientists is of particular importance,” the President said.
Kasym-Jomart Tokayev also dwelt on the work carried out by the state for scientists.
“We constantly state the need to support our scientists. And this is not hollow talk. The state takes concrete measures. In the next two years the number of grants for research of young scientists will be increased once again. 18 billion tenge will be allocated from the budget. Last year, 284 young scientists received housing. This year, on my instruction, they will be allocated 200 more apartments. We will continue to provide such specific measures to support domestic scientists and the scientific community as a whole,” said Kasym-Zhomart Kemelevich.
President of the National Academy of Sciences Akhylbek Kurishbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists at the National Academy of Sciences Shakhislam Laiskhanov also spoke at the meeting.
