A fruitful partnership with Nanjing University
A delegation from Nanjing University (PRC) paid a working visit to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. New prospects and directions of mutually beneficial cooperation were outlined during the meeting of representatives of the leadership of the partner universities.
In his welcoming speech, Deputy Chairman of the Board - Acting First Vice-Rector Erkin Duisenov thanked the guests of honour for their interest in deepening cooperation with Al-Farabi KazNU. He noted the increased relevance of interaction between Kazakhstan and China in the field of science and education in the light of the agenda of the recently held in Astana SCO summit.
Currently, the leading university of the country actively cooperates with 63 universities of the PRC, including Peking University, Shanghai University of Foreign Languages, Shanghai University of Politics and Law, Wuhan University and others. Within the framework of fruitful partnership between Al-Farabi KazNU and Nanjing University of Science and Technology (PRC), the opening ceremony of the joint International Kazakh-Chinese scientific laboratory on energy-efficient nanotechnologies took place. On the basis of the Faculty of Oriental Studies successfully operates Confucius Institute, opened a branch of the North-West Polytechnic University (NWPU) of the PRC, teaching educational programmes: ‘Electronics and Communication Technologies’, ‘Materials Science and Engineering’, ‘Computer Science and Technology’.
The University has established and actively conducts research activities in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences and universities of the People's Republic of China: Earth Remote Sensing Centre, China-Kazakhstan Joint Laboratory of Remote Sensing Technologies and their Application, Laboratory of 5G/5.5G Communication Technologies and others. Within the framework of the signed agreements, academic and research work is actively carried out, students of the University visit universities of the People's Republic of China, professors are attracted to KazNU to give lectures. Currently, 969 students from the People's Republic of China are studying at the university. At the end of his speech, Erkin Ermanovich expressed his hope that the meeting would yield positive results, outlining new directions and prospects for a fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership.
In response, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University, Tang Tienyu, thanked the KazNU leadership for the warm welcome and support, and expressed willingness to develop new areas of cooperation. During the meeting, a video presentation was shown about Nanjing University - one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in China. It is a member of the 'C9 League' of nine elite Chinese universities.
The participants of the meeting discussed the development of further cooperation in the field of implementation of joint scientific and educational projects, academic exchanges, etc.
