Professors from Xi'an Jiaotong University Visit the “Sustainable Development and Environmental Management” Research Center and the “Remote Sensing Technology and Application” Laboratory

On July 22, 2024, the “Sustainable Development and Environmental Management” Research Center (SDEM) and the Kazakhstan-China Joint Laboratory “Remote Sensing Technology and Application” (RSTA) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a delegation of professors from Xi'an Jiaotong University. The delegation included leading scholars from the School of Public Policy and Administration and the Center for Asia-Europe Studies, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China.

During the visit, the professors were introduced to the work of 10 laboratories at the SDEM Research Center and the RSTA Laboratory. They were also presented with interim results of the program BR21882122 “Sustainable Development of Natural-Industrial and Socio-Economic Systems of the West Kazakhstan Region in the Context of Green Growth: A Comprehensive Analysis, Concept, Forecast Estimates and Scenarios.” The delegation was accompanied by Yeldar Nuruly, a Research Fellow of the center and the BR21882122 program.

Throughout the visit, the professors from Xi'an Jiaotong University actively interacted with the researchers from the laboratories, discussing opportunities for future joint projects and knowledge exchange. The laboratory of geodemographic and socio-economic research particularly caught the guests' interest, as their own research is also related to the study of migration processes. The alignment of research interests opens up prospects for strengthening scientific cooperation between the two universities.

At the end of the visit, the guests expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of further developing international scientific cooperation. This visit was a significant step towards exchanging advanced experiences and knowledge in the field of sustainable development and rational nature management.
