The doctoral student of the OP "Ecology" became a member of UNICEF in climate change programs

Dana Nurlanovna Akhmetzhanova, a doctoral student at the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development, became a member of the Group of UNICEF Youth Partners in Central Asia (CA YPG) and took part in a number of meetings of representatives of the organization.

UNICEF carries out its activities to ensure the rights and well-being of every child. Special attention is paid to the problem of the impact of climate change on children.   A graduate of Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and now a doctoral student at the UNESCO Department of Sustainable Development, Dana Akhmetzhanova is one of the most active participants in the UNICEF-led Volunteers4Climate initiative and the UniSat program for the empowerment of young girls (S4G & Climate).  On September 3-5 of this year, Dana represented CA YPG in Istanbul as an Expert on Youth Affairs and a speaker at the NDC 3.0 Regional Climate Forum (ONUV) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, organized by UNDP, UNEP, the NDC Partnership in cooperation with the UNFCCC Secretariat. 

Later, she participated in a Network meeting of UNICEF offices from 23 countries on regional development and youth participation in Europe and Central Asia, which took place on September 9 in Almaty. Here she had the honor to speak at the session “Youth in Youth Policy and Programs” and share her experiences and problems as UNICEF volunteers. 

Along with this, Akhmetzhanova D. N. was selected and invited to participate as one of 25 young specialists from Central Asia in the 14th Central Asian Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development (CAPL), organized by the OSCE office in Astana. The event was held on September 9-13 in Moscow. Talgar, together with the OSCE Program Offices in Bishkek and Dushanbe, the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, the Swiss Initiative "Blue World — Central Asia" and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), was devoted to the issues of glaciers and disaster risk management in mountainous areas.
