12 october, 2024

On October 12, 2024, the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism organized a methodological seminar led by faculty members Yeldar Nuruly, Akmaral Sapiyeva, and Aida Kaliyeva. This event, conducted in a friendly and informal atmosphere, aimed to support students preparing for their course and graduation papers. The seminar participants, mostly senior students, had a unique opportunity to discuss key issues and challenges they may encounter during the preparation of their research projects.

The seminar provided students with valuable advice on the structure and content of course and graduation papers, ranging from the proper formatting of the title page to the specific nuances of composing the introduction and conclusion. The instructors emphasized the differences between a course paper and a graduation thesis, highlighting that the former typically reflects the knowledge and skills acquired over the academic year, while the latter is a final research project that requires deep analysis and independent thought. This distinction in complexity implies that each paper must be approached with varying levels of responsibility and attention to detail.

Particular attention was given to practical advice on selecting relevant topics, correctly formulating research questions, and developing a sound methodology. The instructors shared their experiences and offered a range of effective strategies to help students approach the writing process with greater confidence. One of the key points was the importance of selecting up-to-date sources of information and using modern research methods, which are crucial to the success of any academic work. Students learned how to not only structure their papers correctly but also demonstrate the novelty and practical significance of their research.

The interactive format of the seminar allowed students to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers, making the event particularly beneficial for those just starting the process of writing their course or graduation papers. The students actively discussed their ideas and proposals, receiving valuable advice and feedback from instructors and peers. This contributed to a deeper understanding of the academic process, building confidence and preparing them for the challenges ahead.

Such events play an important role in the educational process, contributing not only to the academic growth of students but also to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The seminar, in particular, contributed to improving the quality of education (SDG 4) by providing students with the necessary knowledge and tools for successful academic work. Ultimately, supporting students in their academic endeavors fosters the development of human capital and prepares future professionals, which aligns with the goals of decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).

This methodological seminar was a significant step in preparing students for writing their course and graduation papers, helping them develop skills and confidence that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their academic and professional careers.
