Students of the «Tourism» major conquered Furmanov Peak
On October 20 of this year, faculty members of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, Beisakhmet A.A. and Adilbay B.S., from the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, organized a weekend mountain hike to Furmanov Peak, one of the closest peaks of the Zailiysky Alatau to the city of Almaty. This initiative was part of the third Sustainable Development Goal: «Good Health and Well-being» and aimed to conduct a «health hour» under the slogan «I choose health! What about you?».
During the hike, first-year students became acquainted with the picturesque nature, beautiful spots, and other tourist trails of the Small Almaty Gorge. Along the way, the students crossed the Kimasar Pass, took memorable photos on swings set up in the mountains, and viewed Talgar Peak (5017 m), the highest point of the Zailiysky Alatau. A total of 27 students reached the peak.
