Patriotic meeting for students

In KazNU named after Al-Farabi at the Faculty of Journalism held a meeting of Honoured Worker of Culture of Kazakhstan, famous poet, author of the words of the famous song ‘Kөk tudyң yelbiregeni’ Almas Akhmetbekuly with students.

The event, organised on the eve of Republic Day, was attended bytheteaching staff and young people of the Faculty of Journalism.

At the meeting, the poet congratulated the audience on Republic Day. In his speech, he noted that it is a holiday that lifts the spirit of our people, strengthens the unity and cohesion of the nation.

Also Almas Akhmetbekuly told about the history of creation of the patriotic song ‘Kөk tudyң yelbiregeni’.
‘I was born in Xinjiang. After independence, I returned to my homeland. My heart stirred when I first saw our flag floating in the blue sky. I immediately put my thoughts and feelings on a piece of paper. So the words of the song ‘Kөk tudyn tudyn yelbiregeni’ were written. The music was written by honoured worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, poet, composer, singer Yermurat Zeyipkhan. For the first time the song was performed in an operatic manner by Maira Mukhamedkyzy. Now it is performed by singer Ibrahim Eskendir,’ the poet said.

Almas Akhmetbekuly is a unique and talented poet who has distinguished himself with a distinctive handwriting in Kazakh literature. He was born in 1961 in Tarbagatai region, PRC. In 1982 he graduated from the Philological Faculty of the Ili Pedagogical Institute. From 1982 to 1992 he worked as an editor of the literary magazine ‘Tarbagatai’ published in Shaueshek, and in 1993 he returned to his historical homeland. Almas Akhmetbekuly is a public figure, author of several collections of poems, honoured citizen of Tarbagatai district of East Kazakhstan Oblast. Most of the poet's poems are devoted to the patriotic theme.

The poet's works and patriotic songs were played at the meeting. Students asked the speaker questions and exchanged opinions.
At the end of the meeting, the students chorus sang the song ‘Kөk tudyң yelbiregeni’ accompanied by the author and took a memorable photo.
